Effect of a low-protein diet on the serum proteins of kittens.
نویسنده
چکیده
From the available literature it appears that the protein requirements of cats are high by comparison with those of other species. Dickinson & Scott (19563) found that satisfactory growth of kittens could not be maintained if the protein content of the diet on the dry-weight basis was below 30 yo, and Greaves (1959) found 32 o/o protein necessary for growth. My work was undertaken in order to determine the effect on the serum proteins of growing kittens of a diet containing 2 1 yo protein on the dry-weight basis, thus providing a protein content 10 % lower than that regarded as able to support satisfactory growth.

This experiment was conducted to compare the effect of probiotic thepax® in diets with different quantities of protein on the performance of Cobb-500 broiler chickens and their serum antibody level against Newcastle disease vaccine (NDV). Two basal diets were formulated based on NRC (1994) recommendations which had NRC (sufficient protein diet) and 90% NRC (low protein diet) for protein. The ba...

Background: Proteins are known mainly based on their metabolic and nutritional functions including protein synthesis and a source of energy. In spite of various physiological properties attributed to proteins, their functions have neither been addressed by assessing quality of proteins nor by nutrition and dietetic practices. Methods: Studies were included if they were randomized animal studies...
متن کاملStudy on the effect of high calcium intake on serum protein bound iodine and urinary excretion of iodine
Iodine deficiency remains a major health problem in the world, including some parts of Iran. It has been recognized that there is usually a close and inverse relationship between iodine in the soil and water and presence of endemic goiter. Calcium has been suggested as one of goitrogens, though the definite role, extent and mechanism particularly in human have not been studied. Serum protein-...
